I obtained this free e-book from Amazon and I am voluntarily writing a review. Luca is a muscle for hire and has just accepted a job working for one of the biggest drug lords in Miami guarding his sister. He is in it for the pay check and not his business what the guy does to make his living. Isabel is the 23 year old sister that is actually being held prisoner by her brother Diego. When her father died he left the business to Diego and control of the money to Isabel. There is a lot not to like about this book. It is in serious need of editing with misspelled words, wrong use of the word and a couple of instances where it appears the author was trying to figure out which word she wanted to use and left them both in the sentence. Sex scenes were thrown in out of context to what was going on at the time, used more as page fillers to the point it was the same old same old and I was skipping over them. For a book that was actually three books combined there was only a couple of action scenes.

Luca found his match when he met Isabel.He took job as a bodyguard and a whole lot more.He had to protect her and her sister from their ruthless brother.He is pure evil in his actions and his words.Luca gets help from Marco,Ella and Farrell.We met them in Nicos books,ruthless,fearless,lawless.When you have family you have everything.
This is a standalone from The Mob Boss series & can be read as a story without reading the previous, but I suggest reading them all. Makes it more interesting. I knew Luca would get his HEA. Isa is strong & a survivor.
I love Michell St. James books! This is a novella that is tied into her Mob Boss, London Mob, Paris Mob, New York Syndicate, and her soon to be new series based in Las Vegas. The first book in the new series is King of Sin. This is Lucas and Isabel’s story. As with all of her amazing books, this one is fast paced, action packed, and ooooh so very hawt!
Once part of the New York Syndicate Luca is now on his own. Taking a job as security for the sister of a notorious drug lord in Miami he never expected to fall in love with Isabella. He made it his priority to get Isabella and her younger sister out from under the hold of their brother. As suspense and lust become part of their lives, Luca and Isabella find what they both need.
You can tell Muscle was originally a serial and then combined to make a novel. When the three parts were combined, the book should have went through some editing to make sure the story flowed well. Obviously the book wasn't going to be set in reality, but some of the plot was too farfetched. And too often, sex was used as a filler, maybe an attempt to make this more a novel length read. Both things slowed the pacing and distracted from the story.
With some editing this could be a pretty good mafia/cartel read.
Luca was never one to fall in love or even think about putting himself in that position. He had watched Nico and the way he fell for Angel. Watched how much trouble love could be and didn't want that for himself, until he saw Isabel jump off that hotel roof.

All Isabel wants is freedom for her and her sister, from the monster who is her family. She didn't anticipate the connection or the instant lust she felt for Luca. But the Sparks surly fly with them and now they are in a race for their lives.

This book was wonderful. I was so happy to see Luca get the happy ending and new beginning that he deserved. I had hoped he would make contact with Nico but was glad to see a few other familiar characters in the story.
Isabel was the daughter of a drug king. When her father dies he leaves the money to her and the business to her brother. She is raising her little sister but they are a prisoner in their own home. Her brother is mean and ruthless and in order to control Isabel, he is holding something over her head. Luca is hired to be Isabel’s bodyguard but one look at her and he knows he’ll do anything for her. They are making plans to run but her brother kidnaps Isabel’s sister Sofia. She’s only eight and Isabel doesn’t know what he’ll do with her. They hunt for months to find her and they have to join another drug lord to locate her. Luca loves Isabel and he’ll do whatever it takes to get Sofia back.
Great story. Will keep you on the edge of your seat. Bad guys and bad guys that are good. Sex. Drugs. Action packed.
