As a white male, I initially thought that I would not be able to relate to this story about a Caribbean mother and her daughter, but after reading it I feel more grateful for my relationship with my children, especially my daughter. How we treat our kids is really how we treat ourselves and how we've been treated. But loving and caring for our kids in a healthy way can stop generations of hurt from taking place.
