I got this one for free from . Cute little story but some things felt a bit forced in the plot line. As with a lot of these freebies, there are some editorial problems but they didn’t detract for the most part. The main annoyance was trying to figure out who was speaking. The author had the tendency to not identify the speaker clearly. My ninth grade English teacher would’ve docked points for that.
I read this right before Christmas, and it's a fun young love story. If you are looking for sweet romance, definitely give this book a try. I'd like to learn more about the sister in a future book, but this wasn't her story. It was also nice to have parents weighing in on the main character's choices, which is often missing in romance. Ex-boyfriends can cast larger shadows than they deserve, and that rang very true in this book.
If you can get past some grammar errors, then this short story is a great find. I will admit that this is my second time reading it and enjoyed it as much as the first time. It is a wonderful story of true love and true friendship. The heroine was immature and misguided about her first love. She couldn't see how great her best friend was and how much he loved her. Good thing she came to her senses!
Charlie had loved Chelsea for years, but she saw him only as her best friend, and he fulfilled that role, afraid that he would lose her altogether if he told her the truth. He watched her as she gave her heart to Wade, and Wade had cheated on her. Now they were going home for Christmas, after being away at college for five years, and he’s afraid she’s still in love with Wade. They develop a charade that they’re engaged, so she won’t feel like a loser in front of Wade, who’s now engaged. How Charlie wishes it was real.

The novella had a lot of small errors - comma mistakes, words left out of sentences, and misused words. For example, “quiet” was used when the adverb “quietly was needed, and “interest” was used for “interested.” I thought the story was interesting, but there was too much “how are you doing” chit-chat in the beginning, and the ending was a good one but fell rather flat. Still, I thought it deserved at least 4.5 stars, which rounded up to a 5.
Very cute story of college friends in love but afraid to admit it. No sex so good for all ages.
